It’s nearly April and weddings in 2022 are already in full motion!
If you have a wedding in the upcoming months you may be well underway with your wedding planning and may already have your dream wedding dress. But for the brides who are just starting their planning journey, firstly how exciting and secondly, this is for you. So, let us introduce the wedding dress trends we can expect to see this year, in 2022 and the trends we have seen already from our Metropolis Brides.
Old School Glamour
A timeless style that is both sophisticated and elegant, inspired by old Hollywood starlets such as Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor and Audrey Hepburn. Expect to see vintage-inspired gowns, off the shoulder lace, A LOT of beading and elegant silhouettes that feature draping and figure-hugging bodices (such as ballgown, mermaid and trumpet-shaped dresses).
For a contemporary bride!
Corsets will give you structure and support for all-day wearability and are flattery on EVERY body shape.
We are seeing a combination of corset bodices with big skirts, which is a very modern take on princess dresses as traditional corsets are normally worn underneath clothing.
We are seeing corsets embellished with pearls, metallic sequins and minimalist versions with defined boning and lines with sheer panels.
A square neckline is said to be a take on modern, edgy and chic all rolled into one!
A wider cut neckline that shows off your shoulders, accentuates your bust and draws the gaze to your neck. Whilst still giving you enough support and coverage.
Think clean-cut fabric (crepe and silk satin), clean lines, subtle details and figure-hugging dresses.
A less is more look that is completely modern, timeless and the epitome of elegance.
Simple Silhouettes range from off the shoulder, slip dress, cowl neck or back, strapless and A-line.
You don’t need to be a non-traditional bride to opt for some colour (yes you read that right!). We are seeing more brides choose pastels such as pale pinks, blues and subdued hues.
You may even opt to incorporate pastels such as the skirt of your dress, the bodice or accessories (gloves, veil, shoes, etc).
Instead of traditional fabrics like satins and silks, brides are choosing tulle, georgette and silk organza or incorporating these fabrics in parts of their wedding dress to make a bold statement.
Using sheer fabrics gives you as a bride a light ethereal look that is edgy yet so feminine at the same time!
Metropolis Bride Trends for 2022 at a glance…
We have started to take note of our Metropolis Brides wedding dresses and whilst there are plenty of elements of the trends mentioned above such as corsets, square necklines and the use of tulle, there are two emerging trends that our brides seem to be swooning over!
Dramatic Long Trains
We have noticed that a lot of our #Metropolisbrides are selecting long, dramatic trains and it is easy to see why, they certainly make a statement!
Also very popular at the moment, is a detachable train! What we love about this is that you can create two completely different looks for the ceremony and the reception! Think of a dramatic royal or monarch train transitioning to sleek silhouettes.
High Leg Slit
A bold and sultry statement is being made with a high leg slit wedding dress! Originating from red carpet dresses, our Metropolis Brides have been turning heads in their wedding dresses and we are all here for this trend!
