Alright, the time has come to select your wedding style and start locking in those suppliers (the earlier the better as they book out quickly). There are so many options of styling that you may be asking yourself “where do I start?”.
Well, we have made the decision process so seamless that it will be super easy for you.
The first question you may want to ask yourself is do you want a wedding style or a theme? (and YES there is a huge difference!). A wedding style is the overall look and feel of your wedding, whereas a wedding theme is a specific subject that you want to base your wedding on i.e perhaps you a great gatsby fanatic and you want a 1920’s theme for your wedding. Whatever it is you will want to narrow down your choices, this is a good time to grab your partner, get a drink and sit down together and figure out what vibe you both want.
Remember, there are no rules to your wedding style, you may even like to pick and choose elements from each popular style and combine them to create a wedding that truly represents you and your partner as a couple.
Let us introduce five trending wedding styles explained to you. We have also attached a mood board for each style that you can save as a reference to show all of your suppliers and wedding planner!
This wedding style is the ultimate expression of love. The first thing you may be thinking when you read the word romantic is Valentine’s Day. Whilst the red, white and pink decor for V-day is VERY on-brand it’s not the only way you can style your wedding to have a romantic look and feel.
Opt for barely-there hues such as browns, blush, ivory and soft pastels.
Combine fresh florals with candles! Nothing says romance like beautifully lit candles. You may also want to incorporate some hanging florals as your wow factor.
Treat your guests to champagne and rose’, they are always an elegant choice.
Select string music! A violinist or a cello player to serenade you and your guests. Or they can play during your first dance.
Art deco can only be described in one way….old Hollywood aesthetic. If you leaning toward this wedding style think sequins, geometric designs and glitz and glam!
You can choose any colour that you like. To tap into art deco a little bit more you might like to opt for blacks, gold and metallic accents.
Combine a mix of florals with feathers, pearls, beads or glitter (or all of them). Use unique vases to host your florals.
You cannot truly embody art deco without having a champagne tower. Plus it’s a great way to transition to your speeches and get the party started.
Have live music as your entertainment, a singer and a band are perfect and you and your guests will love dancing the night away to them.
Are you looking for a laid back wedding style that is still chic but also encompasses a minimal effort look (you may even opt for a cocktail style wedding that encourages ultimate mingling) Then you may be a boho bride!
A boho wedding has a very specific colour scheme; think sunset colours; oranges, yellows, reds as well as sky blue.
They also incorporate unique prints, these can be integrated into your linens or stationary.
Wispy and wild florals such as pampas grass pressed palms or baby breaths.
Use your wedding florals as your cakes decor elements; these could be dried grass and flowers.
A boho wedding style is traditionally a laid back wedding, you want places where people can longue, share a drink, and catch up. Think cozy furniture such as couches and armchairs.
Keep it simple with a DJ to spin your favourite tracks throughout the night.
Have you always envisioned feeling like a princess on your wedding day? This is the style for you then!
Take inspiration from Disney princesses. Did you love sleeping beauty growing up or were you more of a cinderella lover? Whoever your favourite princess was, you can emulate her style. A sleeping beauty inspired wedding would have you selecting different shades of pink, pastel blues and creams.
Or maybe you are more of a real-life princess admirer, which will see you select pastels, white with either silver or rose gold accents.
Lush greenery and colourful flowers! (your flowers will match your chosen wedding colours).
Thrifted china, fairy lights and floral arches will allow your wedding to feel like fairytale dream come true.
A floral tiered cake is perfect for this wedding style.
Try and incorporate some elements of interactive entertainment. Some ideas are a photobooth or live band.
This style is all about embodying country, garden or farm influences (you don’t necessarily need to get married in the outdoors to do this) and you wouldn’t be able to truly embody the style without natural elements.
There are so many colour combinations for a rustic wedding vibe.
- Blue and yellow
- Burgundy and blush OR yellow
- Lavender and dusty rose
- Navy blue and red
- Purple and gold
- Rust and green
- Teal and orange
Honestly, the colour options are endless. At the end of the day opt for a colour combo that you love!
Use natural materials; wooden items, wildflowers in mason jars or mismatched vases and dried fruits as accent pieces. You may even want to have fruit platters.
A simple crumb-coated cake that uses dried fruit as the decor is perfect. A cake alternative (and perfect for a rustic wedding) is to have a beautiful Formaggio table.
Lace or gingham table linens. Wooden chairs with seat pillows.
You may want a more relaxed vibe for your entertainment. Such as a polaroid station or a guest book activity such as writing advice or a memory of you and your partner as a couple.
