Summer wedding cake trends to inspire you!

The Summer breeze is here….

Summer is quite possibly one of our favourite times of the year. Besides the fact that the sky is looking brighter, we are also entering what is known to us in the industry as “prime wedding season”. If you’re a Summer bride, you are no doubt thinking about ways that you can incorporate all the beauty that Summer has to offer into your wedding celebrations. Things like fresh blush blooms and soft pastel colours or fruity concoctions. While the classic of white or ivory is always in season, we are seeing new romantic trends emerge every day. So, to help you along your journey to “I do”, we have put together our favourite wedding cake trends for 2020-21.

1. Big isn’t always better:

With the current pandemic still forcing smaller gatherings, a small cake is a great solution. Decorate it with florals, fruit or a backdrop for an impact statement or plain and simple can also be just as classy.

2. Personalisation is everything:

We have seen some intricate designs over the years, but simplicity can be just as amazing as an extravagant creation. We love these cute little cupcakes. Minimalistic but with a huge impact statement.

3. Florals:

When it comes to florals, personal preference is always key. Do you like big bold colours or soft hues?  Maybe a mix of both? There is no right or wrong answer when it comes to your colour schemes, but florals really do make a statement when it comes to cakes. If your cake is smaller it makes the appearance larger and on a larger cakes, it still adds depth and elegance.

4 . Fruit Toppers:

This is the ultimate spring detail – fruit toppers. It has been an emerging trend over the last couple of years and certainly a way to brighten up your day. If you’re thinking of a “boho” style wedding, this trend is one to follow!

5. Multi coloured/Flavoured layers:

Once upon a time, the traditional wedding cake was made as a fruit cake. These days, majority of cake makers don’t even offer this as an option as the tradition has well and truly expired. Now days, we are spoilt for choice when it comes to flavours. We are also loving the different colours and textures that you can add to create a look that is truly “you” and your style.
